This is a political issue that affects all of us and is urgent. Senator Spector is moving his plague ridden surveillance bill out of committee Today, and Now is the time for all of you Californians to call Senator Feinstein, who is on the judiciary committee, to let her know that you are against the bill. Other Democrats on the judiciary committe include: Leahy (VT), Kennnedy (MA), Biden (DE), Kohl (WI), Feingold (WI), Schumer (NY), Durbin (IL). If not in Calilfornia, call your respective Senator.
One provision of the bill creates a secret, Congressionally-sanctioned approval process for future dragnet spying programs. With this, the Attorney General would be able to covertly obtain general warrants that let the government spy on everyone. I know you think this is already happening, and it is, but this bill would make all that illegal spying Legal. Worth paying attention to.
